One of my top meal prep tips is PLAN AHEAD!
Meal prep doesn’t have to take an entire day, exhaust or demotivate you – it can be simple & take EVEN less time in the moment if you make a little effort to plan ahead!
I’ve been meal prepping every weekend for almost a year & it’s truly changed my life & kept my family & I so motivated & on track with healthy eating habits.
One thing I noticed as I’ve slowly but surely become better & quicker at it is that what takes the most time is the actual PREP part, a.k.a. the washing, chopping, defrosting, slicing, peeling etc… you catch my drift!
Instead of spending my entire day in the kitch on Sundays, the day before I meal prep/after I do groceries, I like to wash & slice all my veggies (& some fruit; I prefer to wash berries in the moment but I like to cut up melon or papaya). I add them to mixing bowls, cover with water & add apple cider vinegar, let them soak for about 10 min. & rinse & drain!
This saves me SO MUCH time on the day I actually want to roast the veggies, use the fruit for breaky/smoothies or the raw veggies in salads/bowls throughout the week! All I have to do is throw them into a bowl, season & roast/devour!
You’d be surprised at how much more seamless this makes meal prep seem for you. Even though you end up spending the same amount of time in total, mentally, it’s less overwhelming & draining & actually allows you to ENJOY meal prep as opposed to dreading it!
Prep doesn’t mean you need to buy every veggie under the sun. It can be whatever you need to have on hand & ready to use to make YOUR life easier when it’s time to prep. If that means buying pre-packaged garlic, healthy bars, picking up fish or meat at the fish market or butcher, washing & cutting herbs, steaming veggies for smoothies, DO YOU!
