What Does Strength Mean To You? & Why Physical Strength Isn’t All That Matters

There’s nothing like feeling STRONG.

Mentally, physically, emotionally.

There’s nothing like that feeling that you can accomplish anything.

And guess what? YOU CAN.

People, experiences, challenges & life in general will try to tell you otherwise. Time & time again. And it’s up to you to tell yourself the opposite.

In life, you can choose to see every experience in one of two ways: positively or negatively.

Let it shape or break you.

Face it or repress it.

Learn from it or be closed minded.

Talk about it or pretend it’s not happening until you internalize it so much you explode.

Embrace it & make something wonderful of it or hate yourself for it.

Heal or live in sadness.

The ability to choose to see every experience, no matter how hard it is, in a positive light is what strength means to me.

The ability to not let yourself slip or fall when it’s EASIER to do that than to get back up is NOT easy to build. But nothing worth having comes easy.

You’re stronger than you know.

You’re stronger than what people will tell you.

You’re stronger than how experiences will try to break you.

You’re stronger than life will challenge you.

You’re worth more than a bad experience, or 2 or 3.

You are not your experiences.

You GROW from them. Yet they don’t define you or your worth. Don’t give them that power.

Next time something negative happens to you, try to implement a simple shift in perspective.

  • instead of saying “this is the worst thing in the world, I’ll never make it through. I’m just going to pretend it isn’t happening until I can’t take it anymore
  • try “there are worst things in life & I can get through this if I pick myself up & work through my emotions”.

You’d be surprised at how much your thoughts & behaviour will change with it.

You can go to the gym & lift heavy, spin your heart out or run at the speed of light for 1 hour straight. You can be physically strong. But that’s not all that matters.

Mental strength is SO important, yet we don’t talk about it enough because it’s hard to build. But it doesn’t mean you can’t do it. Tell yourself you can & you will.
