The journey towards living a healthy lifestyle can sometimes be tricky.
A lot of us tend to focus on tangible results, the ones we can see & touch & that often have to do with our physical appearance. Maintaining a healthy weight is definitely important & conducive to preserving the health of our vital organs & a healthy mind. I don’t undermine the importance of that.
But I do feel that in the pursuit of attaining the tangible results, we also often lose sight of the importance of the results we can’t see or touch. The ones in our minds.
I’ve said it once & I’ll say it again; you can have the most fit & healthy body in the world but if you’re not at ease with yourself mentally & you don’t feel good, what’s it all worth?
I’ve hit the lowest lows when it comes to my mental health & been in situations where I seriously wondered how I’d make it through another day. No matter how “healthy” I thought I was in those moments, I never felt worse.
If you’re incorporating healthy changes to your nutrition, fitness, stress, sleep & relationships, you have SO MUCH to be proud of.
But what’ll give you even more pride is to be just as much of your own health advocate when it comes to the health of your mind. A healthy mind truly is the foundation of a healthy being & body. When my mental health is unstable, so is the rest of me. The mind-body connection isn’t a myth & I know it all too well.
Let me ask you…
- How much focus do you place on feeding your mind with positive thoughts & reducing the negativity that surrounds you?
- How often do you take the time daily to ground yourself & focus on YOU & JUST YOU?
We preach self-care all the time but so many of us forget to do it & then wonder why we feel the way we do. Why we’re doing all the right things but we still feel down, demotivated & just overall “blah”. The culprit?! Placing all our marbles in one jar.
It would make my day to inspire you to divide your marbles & dedicate even a bit more time than usual to the health of your mind. You have so much potential & so much to give & put out into the world. The key to feeling your best as you do that is to take care of the vessel that sends the signals to your body: your mind.
