Hey babes!
Ok, first of all… If you missed my first trail mix recipe, you’ll want to check it out here: Healthy Homemade Quick & Simple Fruit & Nut Mix a.k.a. Trail Mixin’ The Clean Way!
BUT NOW LET’S TALK ABOUT THIS ONE! The base is raw unsalted cashews & then I threw in tons of unsweetened dried berries & cherries, some flax & chia seeds for good measure, fibre, healthy fats, antioxidants, hormone & skin health, some slivered almonds to add a bit more crunch, cacao nibs for a chocolatey touch & tons of mood & brain-boosting antioxidants, magnesium & iron & last but most certainly not least, some Ceylon cinnamon to naturally sweeten it! I also added some se salt since the nuts I use are always raw & unsalted but if your nuts are salted, I suggest holding off on the salt!
I love making trail mix at home because I know exactly what goes into it: no table salt, no added refined sugar, no hydrogenated oils & no preservatives. Just real food.
I love keeping a little portion of any variation of homemade trail mix in my purse or gym bag when I’m on the go because it’s the perfect wholesome, nutritious, filling + energizing snack for when I get hungry in between meals or if I’m feeling weak or light-headed after a workout.
