KITK’s Top 5 Tips For Waking Up Earlier a.k.a. But What Is A Snooze Button?

If you’ve been following me on Instagram or my blog for a while now, you know I wake up pretty damn early! People always ask me how I manage to do it & it’s no secret that luckily, I’m a morning person so waking up early has never really been something I had to make much of an effort to do. Some days, it’s harder than others, based on how overworked my body feels, but generally, it’s something that has become a part of my lifestyle & I’m so used to it, that it’s almost automatic!

But LET’S BE HONEST, truth is, not everybody is a morning person, especially on the weekend! So today, BEING SUNDAY FUNDAY, I wanted to share with you guys some of my top tips to help making early wake-ups a little easier for you!

STOP PRESSING SNOOZE!

If you set an alarm, wake up when it rings & pretend the snooze button doesn’t exist. I don’t know about you guys, but in my experience, going in & out of light sleep actually ends up making me feel more groggy when I finally get out of bed & makes starting the day early hard. It’s also not the best idea when you have somewhere to be in the morning because you might end up sleeping in too late! Instead, when it rings, GET UP & GO!

SCHEDULE SOMETHING EARLY MORNING!

Whether it be work, workout, class or an appointment, getting out of bed is easier when you have somewhere to be! In university, I always made sure to work my schedule around morning classes because they motivated me to start my day early & made me much more productive throughout the day. Having somewhere to be creates accountability, not only towards yourself but also towards whoever/whatever is waiting for you!

GET ENOUGH SLEEP!

I aim for 6-7 hours, although I should probably aim for 8. My FitBit helps me be more mindful & I’ve been trying to get into bed at a more reasonable time so that physically, my body isn’t too exhausted to get out of bed. My bedtime rituals also help prep me for bed & have become a way for my to associate them with bedtime, which means I spend less time WASTING TIME before bed & I actually let myself get into bed a little earlier, even if I’m not going straight to sleep. My bedtime rituals are: my skincare routine, my nightly apple cider vinegar shot & turning on my essential oil diffuser.

WAKE UP AT A SIMILAR TIME EVERYDAY!

This helps condition your body, cultivate a routine & regulate sleep patterns!

WAKE UP WITH A PLAN/SCHEDULE

Drink a glass of lemon water to rehydrate your body, do a skincare routine, read the news, prepare breaky & lunch, head to an early morning spin class, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. When you have a plan, you’re more likely to be motivated to wake up & get it done. P.S. It helps to be HAPPY about what you have to do in the morning. It should be something you look forward to & that excites you & boosts your mood.

These are just some tips that can help motivate you & like all lifestyle changes that you want to turn into a habit, take things slow + ease into it!
