Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day & Neither Was a 100% Organic Fridge a.k.a. My Mentality When It Comes To Grocery Shopping
Is the fridge really even #FRIDGEGOALS if you don’t photograph it?
YOUR HEALTH IS YOUR GREATEST WEALTH! Invest in it. It’s worth every penny.
Yes, produce is expensive.
Yes, good quality ingredients, supplements, organic, fermented $ natural foods pack a pretty penny.
But when you reap the benefits personally & your body & mind feels nourished, healthy, happy & strong, you realize it’s worth it!
Truth is, I don’t eat 100% organic because I simply can’t! Most of my produce isn’t organic; I have to pick & choose my battles. I’m taking things slow & making small changes a step at a time. But for me, it’s important to buy good quality produce that I’m careful about washing & preserving to ensure freshness. If the organic stuff isn’t THAT MUCH pricier or is on sale, I’ll go for it (especially if it’s part of the dirty dozen).
The dirty dozen & clean fifteen are two lists released by the Environmental Working Group on a yearly basis, which identify the produce with the least (the “clean” list) & most (the “dirty” list) pesticide residue.
The DIRTY DOZEN:
- Sweet bell peppers
The CLEAN FIFTEEN:
- Sweet corn
- Frozen sweet peas
Otherwise, I choose to invest in organic supplements, vitamins, specialty products (such as: chlorophyll, bee pollen, aloe vera juice, phytoplankton, royal jelly, manuka honey), fermented foods & organic packaged foods (although I don’t eat much of them), like raw bars, mustards, vinegars, baking ingredients, oils, yogurt, other dairy products, snacks, kombucha, dried fruit & nuts.
Most organic packaged foods are free of GMOs & pesticides, BUT I STILL ALWAYS READ MY LABELS. Don’t be fooled or turn a blind eye to a product simply because it’s labelled gluten-free, vegan, organic or natural! The only way you truly know if a product is GOOD FOR YOUR BODY is if the ingredients list is clean & contains no preservatives, fillers, refined sugars & grains/flours, chemicals, artificial sweeteners &/or ingredients you can’t pronounce!

Moral of the story is that YOU CAN’T HAVE IT ALL! You have to pick & choose what to prioritize to best fit your lifestyle & budget. There’s nothing wrong with working your way up & making swaps & efforts every now & then to ultimately get to a place where you’re 100% happy with your priorities. Rome wasn’t built in a day & neither was a 100% organic fridge!
Do what’s right for you RIGHT NOW & know that there’s always room to take it a step further in time!
