MONDAY MOTIVATION: Stop Sweating The Small Stuff!



Today’s tip is STOP SWEATING THE SMALL STUFF! It’s common for us to let trivial altercations, disagreements or setbacks put a damper on the way the rest of our day or week will go. The human mind is designed in such a way that it’s a lot easier to adopt a negative perspective as opposed to a positive mindset.

But you have the power to fight that tendency & rise above it.

Here’s a little anecdote: I woke up a lot later than usual this morning. I felt rushed & I didn’t have time to get to my regular morning routine. I also ran out of lemon & didn’t get to have my lemon water the exact way I do it every morning. Small trivial stuff, right?

The old kelly would’ve let those things bring her down, put a damper on her day & make her feel inadequate & like she lost control. The new Kelly knows better. She knows that the small stuff don’t define her.

I still made do with what I had & I used apple cider vinegar instead of lemon. I still feel great. I still had time to do my skincare routine, prepare my dad’s lunch, have coffee & get to my spin class.

My morning may not have started out as planned & I could’ve just stayed in bed & said “forget it”. But I got my butt up & made it work anyway!

All this to say, you’re stronger than you know. The motivation & determination to do everything you set your mind to is deeply rooted within you. YOU HAVE IT. The first step to letting it come out is recognizing that you’re human. SHIT HAPPENS. Things will get in the way of plans, you’ll feel you lost control, you’ll get overwhelmed. But those things need to happen for your strength to come out & for you to realize that losing control, little setbacks, challenges & overwhelming feelings is part of life. Those things make you human.

You don’t have to be Superman to get it all done. You just have to keep your eye on the prize & do everything in your power until the prize is yours, all while staying balanced, taking care of your body & mind, nourishing it, feeding it with nutrient-rich whole real foods, finding ways to disconnect, taking time for yourself & self-care, learning to prioritize & engaging in mind work & taking time to JUST BREATHE!
