Today was one of those days I really needed a workout. Sometimes, I get so overwhelmed with everything I want to do that I have a hard time organizing my thoughts & figuring out where to start.
A morning workout always has the power to ground me, to momentarily take my mind off all the plans, projects & goals clouding my mind & making it hard for me to feel like my life is in order & most importantly, to bring me back down to earth.
Life isn’t a race & hey… I’m preaching to the choir. As simple as it sounds, it’s something I constantly need to remind myself.
When I get overwhelmed & my anxiety kicks in, I remind myself not to feel the need to compete with anyone or anything, let alone myself, to get to the finish line first. I’m in my own lane & on my own journey. My goals, dreams, ambitions & the things I hope to accomplish will always be there. One of the most important parts about fulfilling them is the JOURNEY to get there & I’m all about enjoying & learning from every step on my journey.
This year, I learned that my mind is my most powerful tool. When I feel overwhelmed, it’s easy for it to convince me that my life is falling apart & that I’ll never be able to get it all done. But realistically, it’s not my life falling apart, but rather my thoughts.
Getting them back in order!
- First things first, taking some time to just breathe & clean out any self-deprecating negative thoughts. This makes me feel refreshed & renewed & gets me motivated all over again to commit to what I want to accomplish.
- Once my mind is clear, I prioritize! I’m not superwoman & as much as I’d like to get it all done at once, I simply cannot! That’s why it’s important for me to make lists & organize my thoughts in order of priority. This helps put things into perspective & helps remind me that everything will get done in due time!
- And lastly, ME TIME. For me, the best version is exercise. I disconnect from LIFE & focus on taking care of my body & killing my workout so that I feel replenished & energized to get my day going & get it all done!
