Today is one of those days where by noon, I was craving a second coffee. TBH, that’s something that doesn’t happen often but I guess I had a busier week & an early morning, and everything kind of caught up to me all at once.
I make a conscious effort to try to limit myself to one coffee a day because coffee is actually a diuretic, which means it dehydrates the body & skin. Instead of going for the “Joe”, I made myself a CACAO MATCHA LATTE with an adaptogenic kick (cue: CHAGA). This way, I was able to benefit from the caffeine without the dehydration & no post-coffee caffeine crash & jitters. AND OH BABY WAS IT EVER DELICIOUS & WARM & COZY!
All you need is a blender, JUST 5 simple ingredients, a love for chocolate & matcha & a dire need for an energy boost!
Chaga is an adaptogen, but also a superfood, shown to lower cholesterol, blood pressure & blood sugar, boosts immunity, fights cancer & inflammation, heals the gut & contains over 200+ phytonutrients! (If chaga ain’t your jam or you don’t have any on hand, you can use any other adaptogenic powder, such as cordyceps, reishi, ashwagandha, maca root powder, tocos or ginseng).
Matcha is FULL of antioxidants, chlorophyll & detoxifying properties. It boosts energy, concentration, alertness, immunity, prevents disease, fights oxidative damage & the signs of aging (hello skin health!) & also calms & soothes the mind.
Cacao boosts endorphins, reduces inflammation, is full of iron, magnesium, MORE antioxidants & provides a chocolatey flavour without the added sugar,.
I bet you didn’t think a latte THIS HEALTHY & BENEFICIAL could ever come to life, right? I know. Me too. But then I made it & SHOCKED MYSELF!

Without further ado, let’s talk about what you need & how-to (which btw, is simpler than the ABCs)!
- 1 cup of homemade vanilla cinnamon almond milk (or any other plant-based milk of your choice. Cashew or coconut milk would work great!).
- 1 tsp. organic chaga
- 1 tsp. organic matcha powder
- 1 tbsp. raw organic cacao powder
- 1/2 tsp. raw organic honey
- Warm the almond milk in a small stockpot on your stovetop or in the microwave.
- Add the milk & other ingredients to your blender & blend until frothy.
- Pour into a mug & ENJOY! :))
