Stop. Drop. SELF-CARE.
A little FRIDAY night face masking ain’t never hurt nobody.
In today’s fast-paced society, it’s safe to say that we’re CONSTANTLY ON THE GO.
It’s so easy to get preoccupied, overwhelmed, engulfed in our work/school & day-to-day tasks that sometimes, we forget how important self-care is, not only for physical health but also for our mental stability, mind & soul.
Practicing self-care is important to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself, a.k.a. SELF-LOVE & helps produce positive feelings, thereby improving confidence & self-esteem!
Most of us grew up believing that the more we sacrificed, the bigger the reward.
We were led to believe that pushing ourselves to the point of exhaustion HAD to pay off.
But, it’s easy to take the “hard work pays off” mantra too far, to the point where it becomes counterproductive.
Your abilities get worn.
Your skills aren’t as sharp.
You lose focus.
You may be working hard but you aren’t working efficiently.
You begin to hate what you do because it sucks the life out of you.
All you want to do is give up as you’ve pushed yourself to the point where you can’t take it anymore.
You just want (& really need a break).
SO STOP FOR A SEC & LET YOURSELF TAKE IT.
ACKNOWLEDGING that you deserve that YOU-TIME is SO beneficial.
It helps prevent burnouts because it lets you take time-off from all the things that are causing feelings of stress, anxiety or an overall need to constantly be moving, on the go & in control.
It reduces the negative effect of stress on your mind & body & allows you to function at your optimal level! Self-care helps you disconnect, let loose & let go of negativity by making you embrace positivity & embrace the idea of DOING SOMETHING GOOD FOR YOURSELF. Those positive feelings will help cloud the feelings of negativity that your daily life may bring about every now & then.
It helps you learn & find balance in all aspects of your life! I’ve said this once & I’ll say it again, balance & moderation are CRUCIAL components of living a healthy lifestyle.
It helps you refocus, assess & analyze your situation, whatever it may be & in turn, you perform better!
It gives you peace of mind!
It teaches you that self-care isn’t a reward but A NECESSARY & CRUCIAL PART OF LIFE.
It promotes self-love & teaches you that self-neglect is detrimental in the long-run!
Self-care means different things for EVERYONE & that’s OKAY & COMPLETELY NORMAL.
It can be anything from:
Making a conscious effort to eat three full meals a day!
Working out three times a week!
Seeing friends/family at least one night a week!
Doing weekly masks/getting massages!
Going for walks!
Watching TV shows (STUPID REALITY TV & GUILTY PLEASURES make it better).
ALL THIS TO SAY:
MAKE THAT EFFORT.
TAKE CARE OF YOU.
YOU WON’T REGRET IT.
