As you all know, I have a SERIOUS OBSESSION with BOWLS! IF I COULD LIVE OFF OF ONE THING, I’M PRETTY SURE IT WOULD BE SOME KIND OF BOWL.

They’re all things:

Hearty!

Colourful!

Filling!

Super satisfying!

Versatile!

Filled with: Greens! Lean protein! Raw or roasted veggies! Healthy fats! Delicious dips &/or sauces!

Sometimes, I like to add toppings like nuts, seeds & dressings for added texture & flavour!

Basically, BOWLS ARE RAINBOWS!

RAINBOWS ARE ALL THINGS PRETTY & HAPPY!

& BOWLS ARE ALL THINGS PRETTY & HAPPY TOO!

What I also LOVE about them is that depending on the recipe or theme you choose to go for (Mexican, Mediterranean, Asian – AH, THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!), the dish can contain an array of ingredients & be seasoned in a million different ways, but the BASIC FORMULA always remains the same (Y’all know I’ve never been good with formulas & math & stuff, but bowls… WITH BOWLS, I’M GOOD. I’M SO GOOD THAT I’M A MASTER). They’re the perfect fun way to play around with different healthy options in the kitch without eating the same thing over & over again. BASICALLY, what I’m trying to say is that the flavour combinations are ENDLESS.

And the best part? JUST ABOUT EVERY SINGLE BOWL IS SIMPLE TO MAKE & JAM-PACKED WITH FILLING NUTRIENTS & VITAMINS that provide TONS OF HEALTH BENEFITS! Because of the combination of greens, protein & healthy fats, you’re getting a bowl full of all the essential amino acids that your body can’t make alone! This meal also takes care of a whole host of macro & micro nutrients! And they’re so good that you’ll devour them without even realizing just HOW HEALTHY they are (ALL WHILE REAPING ALL THE GOOD STUFF – It really is a best of both worlds SITCH). Any takers? Not yet, you say? Wait until I tease you with my pictures…

Then, BOWL LIFE WILL BE YOUR LIFE. Literally.

OH & from a convenience point of view? Because let’s be honest… convenience is KEY. When it comes to quick & healthy meals, I’m all about piling ingredients together into ONE SIMPLE DISH (Less dishes, less problems, right?). When everything is mingling together in one bowl, it means that not only is your meal a ONE-STOP SHOP, but all the beautiful flavours of all the DELISH food meld together to create a perfect combination of all things sweet & salty & savoury!

BTW, if you want the bowl to take you even LESS TIME to prepare, it’s always best to have some roasted &/or sautéed veggies ready in the fridge at the beginning of the week! I’m thinking asparagus, butternut squash, zucchini, bell peppers, portobello mushrooms, brussels sprouts, eggplant – I CAN GO ON FOR DAYS!!! 

ANYWAY, the way I do it, is THIS:

  1. BASE: Anything from spinach, to kale, to red or green cabbage, to brown rice, quinoa (or other grain, such as millet, buckwheat, barley, couscous) to tofu noodles, soba, rice or gluten-free noodles/pasta of your choosing!
  2. PROTEIN: Anything from ground chicken or turkey to goat cheese, feta cheese, tempeh, smoked tofu, canned wild tuna or salmon, boiled or fried eggs, or chicken breast! (Feel free to use ground beef, or any other type of red meat – IT’S JUST NOT MY JAM. But, whatever floats your boats, my loves!).
  3. RAW VEGETABLES: LITERALLY, ANY & ALL VEGGIES WILL WORK! Cauliflower,, onions, broccoli, sliced cucumber, cherry tomatoes, radish, bean sprouts, shredded carrots &/or beets, micro greens, sprouts, a combination of fresh herbs, such as dill, cilantro, parsley, basil etc.
  4. ROASTED &/OR SAUTÉED VEGETABLES: Sweet potato, beets, butternut squash, zucchini, asparagus, portobello mushrooms, braised tomatoes, brussels sprouts, bell peppers, eggplant etc.
  5. HEALTHY FATS: Avocado, hemp hearts, chia or flaxseeds!
  6. NUTS &/OR BEANS/LEGUMES: Pine nuts, pecans, slivered almonds, walnuts, peanuts, black, white or kidney beans, chickpeas, lentils!
  7. DIPS/DRESSINGS/SAUCES: Salsa, Sriracha, Dijon mustard, BBQ sauce, coconut aminos, or one of my 1984301483280943 dressing recipes up on the blog!
  8. SPICES: I always like to top my bowls off with some additional spices, such as Bragg’s Organic 24-Herb Seasoning,  nutritional yeast, any & all Oh My Spice! seasonings, garlic powder, smoked paprika, black pepper & Himalayan pink salt!

BASICALLY, HAVE FUN WITH IT! Do it your own way! Experiment, have fun & try out new different harmonious flavour combinations! If you need suggestions, HERE ARE JUST A FEW! 


SPINACH, ROASTED ASPARAGUS & SMOKED TOFU BOWL


Throw the following ingredients into a bowl & BAM. LITERALLY.

  • Crispy spinach!
  • ROASTED ASPARAGUS (I drizzled it with organic balsamic vinegar, sprinkled with some Himalayan pink salt, black pepper & Bragg’s 24-Herb seasoning & roasted it at 350F for 15 minutes!)
  • Cherry tomatoes! 
  • Sunflower & red radish SPROUTED microgreens! Loaded with B vitamins, especially folate, as well as calcium, iron & essential fatty acids!
  • Organic smoked tofu by Soyganic Tofu (Gluten, cholesterol & nitrite free! Packed with iron, calcium & protein!)
  • Fresh cauliflower! 
  • Simply Natural Organic Mild Salsa!
  • Drizzled with Oh My Spice Maui Onion, more Bragg’s & black pepper!

SAUTÉED SMOKEY BRUSSELS, RED CABBAGE & SMOKED ONION TEMPEH BOWL


  • Make the Brussels:
    • Spray a medium skillet with Spectrum Organic coconut oil cooking spray & heat over medium-high.
    • Once heated, throw in your Brussels & season with balsamic vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, black pepper & chipotle powder!
    • Lower your heat to medium & sauté for 5-7 minutes, depending on desired crunchiness! (OR, follow this RECIPE – Kelly’s Clean-AF Maple Balsamic Roasted Brussels Sprouts a.k.a. That-Perfect-Sweet-&-Salty-Caramelized-Divine-Goodness-&-That-Roast-Though!).
  • Throw all of this gorgeousness into a bowl:
    • A bunch of red cabbage!
    • THE BRUSSELS!
    • Aux Vivres Smoked Onion Tempeh slices for protein!
    • Neal Brothers Corn Salsa!
    • Fresh cauliflower!
    • Some pine nuts for healthy fats!
    • Drizzle with Bragg’s 24 Herbs & Spices seasoning & Bob’s Red Mill Nutritional yeast for some added nutty & cheesy flavour!

MAPLE-ROASTED CARROTS, BRUSSELS & ZUCCHINI MEATBALL BOWL


Add all the following ingredients to a bowl & BOOM.

  • Maple-Dijon Roasted Carrots (RECIPE HERE)!
  • Fresh broccoli!
  • Maple-Roasted Brussels Sprouts (RECIPE HERE)!

  • Pine nuts!

Throw all this beautifulness into a bowl:

  • Roasted yellow zucchini!
  • Sautéed smokey balsamic brussels!
  • Sautéed Portobello mushrooms!
  • Fresh crisp kale!
  • Cauliflower!
  • Cherry tomatoes!
  • Frontera Foods Jalapeño & Cilantro salsa!
  • THE MAIN EVENT: Aux Vivres Smoked Onion Tempeh! GUYS, this tempeh is HEAVENLY. So freaking delicious. Smokey! Onion-y! Made with the cleanest organic ingredients. Rings you in at 8g of fibre & 16g of protein PER SERVING & provides you with a good dose of healthy fats!
  • ALL THIS BEAUTIFULNESS sprinkled with Simply Organic garlic powder, Bragg’s 24-Herb Seasoning & Oh My Spice Maui Onion!

  • Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts!

SPINACH, TURMERIC GROUND TURKEY, BROCCOLI & ALMOND BOWL


The main event in this baby is my Turmeric Ground Turkey (RECIPE HERE). This bowl literally CANNOT be simpler. Seriously. The base of this baby is none other than spinach (for my greens, potassium & every other possible vitamin & mineral fix!). Topped this beautifulness with a moderate (JK, HUGE) portion of ground turkey made just the way I LOVE it, some diced cucumber, fresh dill, shredded carrots, broccoli florets & raw organic almonds!!!

I also whipped up a quick dressing combining none other than organic apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, pure organic maple syrup, organic yellow mustard, olive oil & loads of spices, one of which deserves an honourable mention… TURMERIC! THAT’S IT. THAT’S ALL!

CAULIFLOWER, SPICY TOMATO JAM, AVO & ZUCCHINI MEATBALL BOWL


THIS POWER BOWL LUNCH SITCH? Throw the following ingredients into a bowl:

  • Fresh cauliflower for vitamin C, K, protein, fibre & potassium!
  • Cherry tomatoes!
  • Loads of my SPICY TOMATO JAM (RECIPE HERE) for vitamin A, more C & folate!
  • ZUCCHINI MEATBALLS (RECIPE HERE, which BTW, are probably one of my fave recipes THUS FAR!) for B vitamins, more protein & omega-3 fatty acids!
  • & of course, SOME AVO for some healthy fats & to keep my skin & hair glowing & shiny AF (Beauty starts from within, my loves!).
  • Topped all this gorgeousness off with some Bragg’s 24-spice seasoning & Oh My Spice! Maui Onion & BAM!

A perfectly balanced lunch guaranteed to keep you full until snack time rolls around (or well, let’s be honest, I’m already hungry. I mean… I’m ALWAYS hungry, you?) & so MAGICALLY delicious, it hurts.

TODAY’S LUNCH BOWL GOALS! Super easy, quick, delicious & filling! All you gotta do is add the following ingredients to a bowl:

  • Arugula, spinach or kale!
  • Sliced zucchini or cucumber!
  • Cherry tomatoes!
  • ROASTED BUTTERNUT SQUASH (RECIPE HERE) or any other roasted veggie for that matter!
  • Shredded carrots or broccoli slaw!
  • Pine nuts, walnuts, pecans or sliced almonds!
  • Dried unsweetened cranberries or raisins!

THEN. THE MOST IMPORTANT PART. Boil an egg… TO PERFECTION, like if you over boil if, BYE!!! No, but realty, I don’t know about you guys but NOTHING & I MEAN, NOTHING, GETS ME GOING LIKE A PERFECTLY BOILED RUNNY-YOLKY-WARM EGG!!!

Anywho, do it. & once she’s boiled, SLICE THE BABE IN HALF… & top your freaking gorgeous RAINBOW OF A BOWL WITH HER & watch & admire & dream as the yolk slowly drips… THEN WHIP UP A SAUCE OR DRESSING (OR USE ONE OF MINE… DUH!!!!) & smother her it!

FLAKEY AF WILD SKIPJACK TUNA STEAK, INDIAN-SPICED BRUSSELS & GREEN CABBAGE BOWL


  • Simply throw loads of chopped green cabbage, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, fresh cilantro, my Indian-Spiced Brussels (RECIPE HERE) & LOADS of Wild Tuna Steak into a LARGE bowl (YES, my portions are ALWAYS THIS BIG!! #noshame).

Not only will this bowl satisfy you AF, but she’s made with the cleanest & most nutritious ingredients, will keep you full IN TWO WAYS ACTUALLY, tummy full AF & full of energy & is packed with loads of vitamins & minerals! She makes for the perfect lunch or dins solution & takes hardly any time to prep (It’ll be EVEN FASTER if you meal prep the chicken & the butternut squash, or some other roasted veggie, if you prefer!).
