Kelly’s Creamy-Yet-Crunchy Spicy Tuna Salad a.k.a. Lunch Goals, Snack Goals – Basically, Everything Goals!
Happy Wednesday! Happy Hump Day! Happy Mid-Week! Happy EVERYTHING! Can you tell I’m in a good mood today?
WANNA KNOW WHAT ELSE BRIGHTENED MY DAY? The deliciousness that is this SPICY CREAMY, yet CRUNCHY SPICY TUNA SALAD!
Basically, given that I got such a positive response from you munchkins when I posted my egg salad recipe the other day, I figured I would fill your tummies with EVEN MORE DELICIOUSNESS with this super simple, yet magically yummy, tuna salad! I feel like tuna salad is a classic. It’s something we all crave every now & then, it’s a great lunch idea, but can also be great as a snack & can be ready in like TEN MINUTES, not even. I know, it sounds too good to be true. BUT IT’S NOT. Swear.
What’s so special about this one? I mean… it’s just tuna salad, right?
BUT, BUT, BUT (& with me, there are always BUTs), this one is made with ZERO (YES, ZERO) OIL & ZERO (YES, ZERO) MAYO. I subbed the mayo for grass-fed organic Greek yogurt because not only is it a MUCH healthier option, but it’s JUST AS CREAMY (if not more!) & more importantly, also loaded with protein & PROBIOTICS! I mean… tell me you’d choose the mayo over the yogurt & I might just have to… JUST KIDDING. I’m a lawyer. I would never. (BTW, I was going to say “kill you” in case you didn’t catch my drift).
So what exactly is in this recipe? LET ME EXPLAIN.
Grass-fed organic Greek yogurt for protein!
Celery & red onion for crispy crunch!
Loads of spices for deliciousness!
Lemon for some tangy zing!
Dijon for some added flavor!
Chopped cilantro for crispness & freshness!
Sriracha for THAT SPICE!
In a nutshell, this babe of a recipe is all things YUMMY, HEALTHY, CLEAN, CRUNCHY, CREAMY, FULL OF PROTEIN, FILLING & VERSATILE! Lather this stuff on pita, sprouted toast, crackers, rice cakes or devour as is!
You simply cannot go wrong with this!
NOW, WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, let’s get to the nitty-gritty!
My loves, YOU WILL NEED:
- 2 cans of organic flaked WILD skipjack tuna (preferably, in water) – ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOUR TUNA IS WILD-CAUGHT!
- 1 tsp. of Sriracha;
- The juice of one lemon;
- 1 tsp. of Dijon mustard;
- ½ of a red onion;
- 2 stalks of celery, FINELY CHOPPED;
- ½ cup of grass-fed organic Greek yogurt;
- ¼ tsp. of Himalayan pink salt;
- ¼ tsp. of black pepper;
- 1 tsp. of smoked paprika;
- 1 tsp. of garlic powder;
- 1 tsp. of Dijon mustard;
- ¼ cup of fresh chopped cilantro;
Honestly, I don’t even really think it’s necessary for me to tell you how to put this babe of a recipe together because it really does not get ANY SIMPLER than this! Seriously. Even your kiddies can make it for you!
BASICALLY, all you gotta do is add all these GORG ingredients to a medium-sized mixing bowl & TOSS with a rubber or wooden spatula UNTIL FULLY COMBINED!
- If you prefer your tuna relatively chunky, make sure not to go too wild with your spatula/spoon or it will shred too much!
- If you prefer a more flakey/shredded tuna salad, GO WILD!
