Hey, Body-Love, I Need Some Space. Lol, JK.
In moments like the ones I’m experiencing RN, when the body-love & I are in a tough love SITCH, I look at photos like this one & try to remind myself why LOOKING LIKE A CURVACIOUS WOMAN AGAIN is a GOOD (amazing) THING!
As hard & scary as it is
As much as this is not the body I knew & (thought) I loved for the past few years.
Wanna know why that works?
BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.
If you teach your mind to focus on HOW you feel & not on the nitty-gritty details of HOW YOU LOOK, you learn to respect, nourish, appreciate, cherish, care for & LOVE YOUR BODY that much more.
Yes, you’re right. We live in a superficial & very materialistic society.
One that is SO (albeit, TOO) focused on the physicality of things & people.
But, the reality is all that doesn’t matter if you don’t let it.
If you don’t let that mentality dictate you & the way you choose to live your life, YOU ARE IN CONTROL.
Coming from a deep, dark & scary place where I had ZERO & I mean, ZERO, control, over my body & what was going into it (or rather, what wasn’t), this sense of control over HOW GOOD I FEEL is SO FREAKING REWARDING.
So yes, there are moments where body-love & I aren’t getting along.
Where we fight & bicker & tell each other we need some space.
But what matters is that in the grand scheme of things, THOSE MOMENTS PASS.
They are not the moments by which I define my self-worth or my beauty.
They are hard times.
But I AM WORTH SO MUCH MORE.
I’m worth every bite of food I take.
Every article & book I read.
Every rant I go on in hopes of helping, inspiring & raising awareness about EDs, health & mental illnesses.
Every recipe I whip up.
Every blog post.
Every soul I touch or that can relate to my journey.
Every effort I make to stay on track.
EVERY BABY STEP. EVERY BIG STEP.
Every obstacle. Every hardship.
Every smile. Every laugh.
& Most of all, EVERY LITTLE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of the fact that my body is beautiful.
That I LOVE & EMBRACE it for ALL THAT IT IS.
That I’m thankful for every single step.
Every single breath & heartbeat.
Because these are the reasons I am (& feel) MORE ALIVE THAN EVER.
