Almost the weekend, so exciting! Right? I KNOW! FriYAY is just around the corner!! And although I’m sure you already have 94824820942 errands to run this weekend, I figured I’d give you another one!
GO STOCK UP ON SOME KOMBUCHA!!!!! WHY, YOU ASK?
Let me explain!
First & foremost, for those of you who are new-ish to the whole Kombucha thing; let me explain what it is! In a nutshell, Kombucha is a fermented beverage of black tea & sugar (from various sources, including cane sugar, fruit or honey!).
It contains LOADS of bacteria & yeast that are responsible for initiating the fermentation process once combined with sugar. Once it’s fermented, Kombucha becomes carbonated & contains vinegar, B-vitamins, enzymes, PROBIOTICS & a high concentration of acid (acetic, gluconic & lactic), all of which can provide MANY HEALTH BENEFITS! If I had to summarize them (before getting into all the dirty deets), I would say that the four main health properties of this babe of a drink are:
Out of fear of sounding too scientific, I won’t get too into the nutritional composition of kombucha, BUT, all you munchkins need to know is the SCOBY or Symbiotic Colony of Bacteria & Yeast is the collection of microbes responsible for turning sweet tea into a probiotic beverage. Essentially, it is a living colony of beneficial organisms that turn sugar into healthful acids & probiotics. SCOBY is pretty much a rubbery disc that covers the surface of the brewing liquid to seal it off from the air, allowing fermentation to happen in an air-free environment. OKAY, I CAN GO ON FOR DAYS, BUT I’M DONE. This is what too much research will do to you.
OKAY, so now that we’ve got that good old boring scientific stuff covered, let’s get into the nitty-gritty OF ALL HER BENEFITS STAT! So as I mentioned before, the nutrients contained in Kombucha are wonderful at supporting the body in SO MANY WAYS! HOW SO?
The detoxifying capacity of Kombucha is HUGE. In fact, it has the ability to counteract LIVER CELL TOXICITY. Research has shown that this is most probably due to Kombucha’s antioxidant activity & could be beneficial against liver diseases, where oxidative stress is known to play a crucial role.
Not only do the antioxidants in this baby help with liver detoxification, BUT ALSO, the babe is high in glucaric acid, which is super beneficial to the liver & aids its NATURAL detoxification.

Kombucha is also a great alternative to sugar-filled drinks, such as soda! In fact, it is naturally carbonated, meaning that the secondary fermentation process NATURALLY produces bubbles & carbonation. Sodas, on the other hand, are artificially carbonated by forcing carbonation into the liquid.

As for how often you can drink it?
I RELIGIOUSLY drink one bottle of this baby per day & I have seen ONLY POSITIVE & FREAKING AMAZING RESULTS! Obviously, everybody’s body is different and reacts differently to certain things. This is why making healthier lifestyle choices is all about trial & error!
So, if you are a first-timer, I would start out by trying half a bottle per day for about 2 weeks & gage out the effects (positive or negative) & then decide for yourselves what works best for you!
